Working With Reality

You need to create a show out of hours of continuous unscripted shooting. What story do you tell? What shots do you use? Do you even know what material is available? The only thing for sure is that the show is on air in a few hours! Can it be done?

Reality is designed for directors who need to get a handle on hours of content in a few minutes and sculpt it into a 30- or 60-minute show, fast.

Reality Workflow

During the shoot, Reality operators enter descriptions of the action in real time, live, as it happens. The descriptions are automatically linked to video and time codes.

Every three minutes or so, the index, video and time codes are automatically loaded into Reality's video library. This is where the fun begins. The library is Web-based, so all you need to access it is a browser. You can browse and play video, view action reports from different time periods, find specific video content, select shots, create a story, rough edit it, email it and generate an EDL to email to editing staff. And you can do it all remotely.

What Reality delivers is instant access to your entire production: video, time codes and descriptions alike. You can find specific content from days ago or minutes ago and play it instantaneously. Start assembling shots any time during the shoot and have the flexibility to change your story as new shots come in. Rate shots according to interest and appeal. You harness the raw material and turn it into a hit show, fast.

Reality integrates perfectly into a multi-camera production where action is improvised and shooting is continuous. It supports multiple feeds, so no matter how many cameras you have on-set, you can select your main feeds on the fly and describe only the action on those.

Reality is rented by the week: you get a turnkey system, with no software to install, nothing to configure and nothing to set up. Just unpack it, plug it in and go!
